Mooladhara chakra

Mooladhara chakraThe first center of our subtle system is the Mooladhara chakra.
This chakra is placed below the sacred bone, in the pelvic plexus. On our hands, it is reflected at the base of our palm. In our feet, it is reflected in the heels. It regulates the sexual organs and the excretory organs. Having a good Mooladhara means that our Kundalini is steady and strong inside us.

The term Mooladhara is composed by two terms: moola, that means root, and dhara, that means support; so it means “support of the root”. Actually the Mooladhara chakra is the one that supports our Kundalini‘s ascent. It is the root of our evolution.
The main qualities of this chakra are innocence, purity, spontaneity, wisdom. Without purity there cannot be any spiritual ascent, this is the point. Now, nobody is going to judge what you are, but depending on the state of your chakra, then you will know what you need to improve to establish your Self Realization.

When this chakra is fully awakened in a person, we can notice how innocent and pure she is, just like a child. Actually, in children the qualities of this chakra are better expressed and their Kundalini awakening is easier than in most of adults. It is important to note that when we talk of “innocence”, we do not mean “ingenuity”, that means people can easily fool you. It is not that. Being innocent means being pure, genuine, honest.

The Mooladhara chakra is associated to the Earth element. Actually we can clear it with the help of Mother Earth, for example by meditating sitting on the ground. Home floor can do, but if you can sit on the earth it will be more effective.
Beyond innocence, another fundamental quality of this chakra is wisdom. Wisdom is the capacity to distinguish what is good and what is bad for ourselves. It is an innate quality, not necessarily due to our experiences. It is the capacity also to be connected with the Nature and understand its laws.

Sitting in meditation on the earth or even directing one’s glance towards nature, helps the clearing of Mooladhara chakra quite a lot. Even while walking, we should not move our glance here and there, this is not good for this chakra; better looking at the ground or anyway looking straight.

When innocence starts manifesting inside us (or better returning), we can feel the pure joy of existence. That is not a temporary happiness, joy means bliss, unconditional bliss, peace and well-being.
The Mooladhara chakra is blackened by every activity that goes against innocence; for example all seduction games or lust, or sexual imbalance. Tantrism, fanaticism, every extreme behavior can block this chakra in its right side aspect. Even a kind of forced sexual abstinence can block this chakra in the right side as well.

Treatments for the Mooladhara chakra

Recap what the main treatments are for improving the Mooladhara chakra.

Sitting on the Mother Earth. This is the first and simplest treatment: sitting on the ground, better if it is outside on the earth or on a lawn, on the beach, or any natural place. In this way, spontaneously all the tensions will be released into the earth.

Looking at the ground. When you walk and go around, try as much as you can to keep your glance towards the ground, at no more that one meter of height; try not to continuously rotate your eyes right and left. Through our eyes we can actually catch not only the images around us, but also their vibrational content… that it is not always pure and positive.

Foot-soak. Foot-soak is another way to deliver our first chakra from tensions. We have already seen how to do it, look at the lesson: Foot-soak, how to deliver yourself from daily tension.

By using vibrations. Another method for clearing is by using vibrations. We will see it in a next lesson.

Candle for the left Mooladhara. For the left Mooladhara in some cases we can use the power of fire, that means a candle. We will see it in another lesson.
